Sound Proximity Mine is a fun application that can be used to surprise and annoy your unsuspecting friends.
Sound Proximity Mine is unique in that it can be placed in a room, waiting for any noise or movement. Once your unsuspecting target enters the room and makes a noise or moves the mine, it will immediately detonate — playing a scary, silly, or surprising sound! If the 25 pre-recorded sounds aren’t enough, Sound Proximity Mine even allows you to record your own!
Getting Started
First, go to the Settings tab
Configure Sound Proximity Mine’s sensitivity
- Sensitivity should be set to Medium for most situations, but you can also select your own customized sensitivity level.
- To customize Sensitivity, simply drag the slider bar left for less sensitivity (meaning it will require louder noises to trigger the Sound Proximity Mine)
- Drag the slider bar to the right for more sensitivity (meaning less noise is required to trigger the Sound Proximity Mine).

Select a Sound
- Select the sound you’d like to have played back during detonation and the number of times to loop the sound. (To record your own sounds, choose Custom.)
- Select number of times to loop your sound

Next, go to the Proximity Mine tab ![]()
Tap the Arm button in the center:

Once Armed, the screen will look like this:

Ready For Action!
Place the iPhone or iPod Touch in a good spot that is slightly hidden from view and within two to six feet from your target.
Proximity Mine States
Sound Proximity Mine has three states. Tapping the button in the middle of the screen has a different effect depending on the current state.
- Disarmed: Tapping the button will arm the mine.

- Armed: Tapping the button will disarm the mine.

- Detonation: Tapping the button will re-arm the mine.

Determining Sensitivity
Sound Proximity Mine’s preselected sensitivity values have been designed and tested to work well in typical environments.
You should use the following sensitivity setting based upon the situation:
- Low should be used when you might have Sound Proximity Mine set up very close to your target or in a somewhat noisy room.
- Medium should be used in most situations. It is calibrated to be used within two to six feet of your target.
- High can be used in situations where you know there are no other sounds occurring and you want to ensure almost any sound triggers Sound Proximity Mine.
- Accelerometer will trigger sound playback when the phone is moved or bumped.
